Continued Momentum for the Quarterley Racing On Track Development Team at Pitt Race

Wampum, PA – 8/27/2017 - Benjamin Smith continues to lead the pack. Even with 2nd qualifying cut short he takes the pole for Race 1 with a 2.00.2 lap time. Following in suit, Jackson Blackmon and Draik Beauchamp improved their times each lap qualifying 4th and 6th. In his road race debut Dallas Daniels, on his Road Racing World KTM RC Cup 390 wild card entry with setup and coaching by Dale Quarterley, qualified in the top ten. Nate Minster rounded out the team in 13th, but brought feedback to the pits for some set-up changes for the race. With two additional riders under the Quarterley Racing On Track Development tent this weekend, Dale Quarterley would like to extend his appreciation to our dedicated crew members: Rob Barrick and Mark Reynolds for their on-going support on the weekends and Paul Arciszewski back at the shop.

The KTM RC390 Cup Series delivers another exciting race in the 2017 season. Jackson Blackmon gets a great start leading the pack to be passed by Alex Dumas just before making it back to the start finish line. A seven rider lead pack hits 2.00 lap times by the third lap of the race and the chatter about seeing a rider drop below two begin. Unfortunately, Benjamin Smith’s bike slid off the track and while unhurt, he was unable to finish the race. The front three riders get away with Blackmon holding onto second place. Draik Beauchamp swaps positions several time in the second pack, but charges hard and makes a two rider pass in the last laps of the race and gains momentum on the leaders finishing 4th for the day. Jackson Blackmon puts his head down and crosses the finish line second, only 0.045 seconds behind the winner Alex Dumas. Blackmon sets the fastest time of the race at 1.59.7 on the last lap. Nate Minster finishes 8th followed up by Dallas Daniels in 10th.

The second race didn’t disappoint. A red flag early reset the field on the grid back to starting line-up, but Jackson Blackmon, Benjamin Smith, and Draik Beauchamp put their heads down and road in a five bike pack with Alex Dumas and Corey Ventura. Four racers picked up the pace to drop below 2 minutes a lap with Beauchamp setting the second fastest lap of the race with 1.59.749 behind Ventura’s 1.59.742. A competitive race to the last lap. Congratulations to Alex Dumas for repeat 1st place podiums this weekend; joined by Jackson Blackmon for 2nd and Benjamin Smith in 3rd.

The team looks forward to New Jersey where Jake Leahey will rejoin the team. Dale Quarterley
